2020 Agostino Inicio Malbec Rosé

For the Agostino siblings, childhood was rosy—long, warm days spent playing in the vineyards while their grandfather, Sebastiano, tended the vines. It was el inicio, the beginning, of a lifelong passion for wine. In loving tribute to their family’s patriarch, the children (all grown up and running Argentina’s award-winning Finca Agostino) have released an exclusive Inicio label—and you have insider access to it! Their gorgeous rosé is pure Malbec—naturally. The grapes are grown right on the family’s estate in the Barrancas district of premium Maipú; part of the larger Mendoza region, this spot is actually one of Argentina’s original viticultural areas. The wine is a deep, brazen shade of pink that makes you want to dive right in! In the glass, it’s all about those cheek-pinching notes of strawberry and cherry…maybe a hint of white peach on the long, crisp finish. Red Malbec is famous for its “perfect steak match” status, but thanks to this pink’s juicy, upfront fruit and zippy finish, it’ll also do well with fattier cuts of beef—try pan-seared ribeye basted with rosemary butter. Roast chicken or grilled white fish with peach salsa will also be quite tasty.
