History
Aberfeldy 16 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky was first released in 2015 as part of the Last Great Malts Series, celebrating the rich heritage of whisky production in Scotland. Aberfeldy is crafted from the pure, soft water sourced from the Pitilie Burn, renowned for its gold deposits and exceptional quality. The whisky is made exclusively from barley, which is milled through the distillery's traditional Porteous mill before being mashed and fermented in stainless steel washbacks to ensure a clean fermentation. After fermentation, the spirit is distilled twice through Aberfeldy’s copper-pot wash stills and then again through its copper-pot spirit still, allowing for a refined character. The whisky then matures for 16 years in handmade oak casks, where it develops complex flavors, before being finished in first-fill Oloroso sherry casks, imparting a rich, fruity sweetness that enhances its overall profile.
