Angostura Aged Rum 1824 12 Year was created by Dr. Johann Siegart, who was a German doctor serving General Simon Bolivar's army in Venezuela. During this time, he was working to find a medicine that would enhance the appetite and digestion of his soldiers. Dr. Siegart eventually settled upon a mix of herbs and spices that he called “Amargo Aromatico” — today, this concoction is world famous and is simply known as Angostura Bitters. Inspired by his success, Siegart turned to rum production, utilizing the same meticulous approach to blending flavors. This unique recipe is produced by master distillers with years of experience and training in original formulas and techniques.
