Bacardí Gran Reserva Limitada. Casa Bacardí, Cataño, Puerto Rico — the rarest and most luxurious expression in the Bacardí portfolio, a blend of the distillery's oldest reserve rums aged up to 17 years, individually numbered and signed by the Maestro de Ron before bottling.

Bacardí Gran Reserva Limitada is produced in small quantities from the Bacardí family's private reserve of exceptionally old aged rums. The Maestro de Ron — the house's Master Blender — selects from rums aged up to 17 years in American white oak barrels, blending older stocks with complementary younger aged rums to achieve a perfectly balanced profile. Each bottle is then individually signed by the Maestro and marked with its blending batch, bottling date, and bottle number before release — making each one a traceable, documented release rather than an anonymous production run.

The result is a fundamentally different Bacardí than the white rum most people know. Where Bacardí Superior is designed for invisibility in cocktails, the Gran Reserva Limitada is designed to be the center of attention — a sipping rum of genuine complexity and elegance, with the warmth and depth of long oak aging but the house's signature smoothness intact. It sits at 40% ABV, accessible enough to appreciate without distraction from alcohol heat.

Tasting Notes

  • Nose: Brown sugar, vanilla, toasted oak, and fruit leathers. Almond and creme brulee with a hint of dulce de leche. Warm and inviting.
  • Palate: Long notes of caramelized vanilla, brown sugar, dried fruits, roasted almonds, cinnamon, and oak. Tropical floral notes, caramel, and a hint of coffee. Silky texture with excellent balance.
  • Finish: Long and smooth. Soft oak and dried raisin linger alongside butterscotch and warm spice. Clean and refined through the close.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What does Bacardí Gran Reserva Limitada taste like? Brown sugar, vanilla, toasted oak, and fruit leathers on the nose with almond and creme brulee. The palate delivers caramelized vanilla, brown sugar, dried fruits, roasted almonds, cinnamon, and tropical floral notes. The finish is long and smooth with soft oak and dried raisin.
  • How old are the rums in Gran Reserva Limitada? The blend includes rums aged up to 17 years, blended with complementary aged stocks to achieve balance. Each bottle is individually numbered with its blending batch and bottling date.
  • Is Gran Reserva Limitada the same as Bacardí Reserva Ocho? No — these are distinct expressions at very different price points. Reserva Ocho is an 8-year aged rum for everyday sipping. Gran Reserva Limitada is from Bacardí's private reserve, aged up to 17 years in much smaller quantities, and individually signed and numbered.
  • Should I drink this neat or in cocktails? Primarily designed for sipping neat or over a large ice cube, where the 17-year aged complexity can fully express itself. It can elevate a Rum Old Fashioned or El Presidente, but using it in cocktails is not the best use of a premium aged expression at this price.
  • Is this a collector's rum? Yes — with individual batch numbers, bottling dates, and bottle numbers on every release, Gran Reserva Limitada functions as both a premium sipper and a collectible bottle for Bacardí enthusiasts.
