Bache Gabrielsen XO Cognac is produced by the fourth-generation Bache Gabrielsen family Cognac house in Cognac, France — founded by Thomas Bache Gabrielsen in 1905. XO (“Extra Old”) designation requires a minimum of ten years aging in French oak under current French regulations (raised from six years in 2018). Bache Gabrielsen is one of the few Scandinavian-owned Cognac houses, reflecting the Norwegian founder’s establishment of the business in the Charente. The XO bottling draws on eaux-de-vie from multiple Cognac crus, primarily Grande Champagne, aged in French Limousin and Troncais oak for a minimum decade.
