History
BOLS Pineapple Chipotle Liqueur was crafted by the Bols family who started the production of liqueurs in a small Amsterdam distillery called 't Lootsje. Lucas Bols, the grandson of the founder, was born in 1669. In 1700, he became a major shareholder in the Dutch East India trading company, gaining access to exotic herbs and spices that inspired over 300 liqueur and spirit recipes. He was instrumental in shipping Bols liqueurs worldwide. Lucas Bols died in 1719, leaving a legacy that continues today. The Bols family also revolutionized the distillation of Dutch genever. Their innovative recipes and aging techniques, particularly with French Limousin oak casks, significantly influenced the cocktail culture, as highlighted in the 1862 cocktail recipe book by Jerry Thomas, where one in four cocktails featured genever. In 2010, they relaunched their aged genever internationally, showcasing their enduring commitment to quality and tradition.
