Caffo Vecchia Grappa Barrique is produced by the Caffo family distillery in Limbadi, Calabria — a grappa aged in small barrique oak barrels, producing an amber-colored, wood-influenced spirit. Barrique aging (in small French or American oak barrels of 225–300 liters) imparts more wood character per liter than larger traditional botti, creating a richer, more vanilla-forward grappa.
Grappa is distilled from grape pomace — the skins, seeds, and stems left after wine pressing. Caffo’s Barrique expression takes this base through barreled aging that transforms the raw pomace character into a smoother, oak-integrated spirit. The small barrique format accelerates the wood interaction compared to large-format casks.
