Description: Solera Aged Rum finished Rye whiskey is a unique blend born from an excess of 5+ year old rum from Trinidad, Venezuela, and Jamaica and a collection of emptied bourbon casks. The Solera aging method was utilized to create a rum cask finished rye whiskey, adding to the small selection of rum cask finished rye whiskies available. The spicy notes of the rye and fruity notes of the rum complement each other well, creating a flavor profile similar to a Caribbean spice cake. The first batch of Solera Aged Rum finished Rye whiskey was made by filling the rum casks with a blend of MGP rye whiskies, which were then allowed to mellow before bottling. The blend process starts with two different rye whiskies from MGP, which are blended together to create a base spirit and then added to the top row of the Solera. The final product is bottled straight from the Solera, after being proofed and rested.
