Originally released in 2016 as our first collaboration with Evil Twin, Dusk Trill Dawn drew inspiration from Jeppe's Even More Jesus and our own PM Dawn. For our Hit Refresh release, we've pushed the concept further, sourcing Las Pulgas Columbian coffee beans from Brooklyn's Sey Coffee Roasters and pairing it with our new custom Trillium blend from our friends at Barrington.
Evil Twin works closely with Sey for their coffee beers and they recommended Las Pulgas for its exemplary balance and notes of red fruit. This is also our first release utilizing our new Barrington house blend, which contributes beautiful notes of deep cacao, rye bread crust, and a slight earthy profile to the mix.
The resulting Imperial Coffee Stout presents a viscous black, with its mocha-colored legs slowly descending after the glass is swirled. Bold aromatics of freshly ground coffee beans, creamy milk chocolate, and vanilla take the stage, with background tones of subtle smoke, cherry jam, and caramel making appearances throughout. Dusk Trill Dawn is moderately full-bodied, with a gentle bitterness and balanced sweetness.
