Description: El Dorado High Ester Blend Series – Second Release is a limited-edition Demerara rum produced by Demerara Distillers Limited at Diamond Distillery, the last remaining distillery in Guyana, and crafted in full accordance with the Demerara Rum Geographical Indication. This highly anticipated release is a 10-year-old blend of pot still rums distilled from molasses using two iconic marques: the Diamond High Ester (DHE) marque from the John Dore double retort copper pot still and the legendary Port Mourant (PM) marque from the historic double wooden pot still—the oldest operating wooden still of its kind in the world. Aged for a decade in ex-bourbon casks and bottled at cask strength (51.7% ABV), the rum opens with aromas of cocoa powder, cherry, toasted almond, saltwater taffy, cheesecake, and a subtle wisp of smoke. The palate is rich and layered, revealing toffee, stewed red fruit, milk chocolate, and coffee, followed by unmistakable Port Mourant notes of leather and tobacco. Bold, complex, and deeply expressive, this release showcases Diamond Distillery’s innovative high-ester experimentation while honoring the timeless character of Demerara rum.
