Four Roses Single Barrel is the most transparent expression of the distillery's unique 10-recipe production system — each bottle drawn from one barrel of one specific recipe, allowing the individual character of that recipe and that barrel to be fully expressed without the averaging effect of blending, producing the most complex and full-bodied expression in the standard Four Roses lineup.

Four Roses is the only major Kentucky bourbon producer maintaining 10 distinct bourbon recipes — the product of two mashbills (high rye at 35% and low rye at 20%) crossed with five proprietary yeast strains, each producing a different flavor character. The Single Barrel program selects specific barrels from this recipe library where the individual barrel's development has been exceptional. The result is complex, full-bodied, and surprisingly smooth for a 100-proof single barrel — ripe plum and cherry with fruity and spicy aromas including herbs and cocoa, and a delicately long, mellow finish that is the hallmark of the Four Roses house style at its most concentrated.
