Fuenteseca is the personal project of Enrique Fonseca, one of Mexico's most respected agave farmers and tequila producers. The Reserva series represents the full expression of his patience philosophy: mature Blue Agave is harvested at around 9 years of age (older than most producers wait), then aged in French oak casks for years beyond what the extra añejo designation requires. The 15 Year has been in the barrel for a decade and a half — the entire production cycle from planting to bottle spans 20 years.

At this age, the agave character has transformed significantly from the cooked sweetness of younger expressions. The extended French oak contact has developed a concentration of butterscotch, honey, vanilla, and warm wood spice that compares favorably to aged Cognac or very old rum — a tequila that rewards the same approach as any great aged spirit: patience, a small glass, and time to breathe.
