This expression is a 1998 vintage Ardmore, bottled under the Gordon & MacPhail "Distillery Label" range. It should be noted that Ardmore is a Highland peated whisky but unlike any of the peated expressions from Islay, Highland Malt lacks the saltiness and iodine notes with much more subtle smoky overtones. As with all G&M expressions, this whisky is presented without chill-filtration or added colour.
Nose: Leather and tobacco with wood shavings, vanilla and orchard fruits.
Palate: Not as creamy as one might expect. Crisp fruits - mainly apple. There is a hint of pepper spiciness along with a whiff of smoke.
Finish: Longish finish. Creamy vanilla and some honey and a bit of effervescence on the back palate.
