High West's signature Double Rye boasts a complex and spicy profile, crafted by blending two distinct rye whiskies: a 2-year-old with a mashbill of 95% rye and 5% barley malt, and a 7-year-old with a mashbill of 53% rye and 37% corn. After the initial aging process, the whiskey is then finished in cognac barrels to infuse fruity and nutty nuances from the brandy-soaked oak. This additional step adds a touch of sophistication, enhancing the spicy flavors with hints of dried fruits, caramel, and delicate floral notes.
