Selected from only five of the finest 1980 Vintage Oloroso Sherry casks and bottled in 2007.
The result is a limited edition of 972 individually numbered bottles each signed by the Master Blender and Distillery Manager.
Laphroaig Distillery was established in 1815 on the rocky south coast of the Isle of Islay off the west coast of Scotland. Laphroaig is a malt whisky distillery which continues to malt barley using its traditional malting floors and malt kiln. In 1994 Laphroaig was awarded the Royal Warrant. Visitors are welcomed at the Laphroaig Distillery visitor centre where distillery tours are available. Laphroaig Distillery participates in Feis Ile, the Islay Festival of Malt and Music.
The initial aroma is of very sweet, rich old sherry whose flavour is reminiscent of black grapes, pears and oak. Honeyed peaty taste that slowly fades to allow the powerful heather and richness quality to come through.
