Millstone 100 Rye Whisky is distilled from 100% rye (51% malted/49% un-malted) in small copper pot stills. The new spirit is aged for a minimum of 100 months in new American Oak barrels.
In 1976, Master Distiller Fred van Zuidam, and his wife Hélène van Zuidam, began making liqueurs and Genevers. But it was their son, Patrick van Zuidam, who wanted to make his own whisky.
In 1996, the first experimental barrels of whisky were produced. The name Millstone refers to the Dutch mills that once ground grain for making whisky.
Nose: Notes of citrus fruit and spices with delicate tones of honey combined with vanilla and oak.
Palate: Rich fruity honey sweetness follows from the nose, with delicate spicy notes appearing on the back palate.
Finish: A long peppery, vanilla and oak finish.
