It was still on its lees in barrel when I tasted it. Pierre-Yves Colin has delivered another successful 2023 vintage, and almost everything I tasted remained un-racked on the lees, undergoing a long élevage in pursuit of more tension and complexity. “These are mostly from young vines, planted with high quality material in 2015 and 2018 along with a few 40 year old vines. A fine glowing lemon and lime colour. There is more bouquet here, picked later of course, 7-9 September, with classic Colin-Morey tension, more than reduction, yet ripe enough fruit and a sense of vibrancy.
