WHEN WE INTRODUCED OUR FIRST DECADE RELEASE IN 2020, we resolved to bring back only vintages that exhibit great aging potential. Every significant producer needs to test itself to see how its wine ages, and this decision was part of our commitment to quality and longevity—values that have informed Quintessa since Agustin and Valeria Huneeus first cultivated our estate property in 1989.
Today, we are delighted to introduce the 2012 Quintessa as our new Decade Release. The 2012 vintage was always an exceptional one for making balanced wines, but today, the unique character of this wine has revealed itself more fully. Ten years on, the 2012 Quintessa is noticeably bright and fresh, with black fruit and violets supported by earthy notes of graphite, cedar box and tobacco. On the palate, it shows beautiful evolution, with firm yet lushly textured tannins and a long, linear finish.
