Caballeros Inc. recently released a limited edition of 100% agave mezcal, aged five years in oak barrels of less than 200 liters. Distilled twice and contained in sturdy French glass, each hand-numbered bottle features a scorpion inside. Large scorpions were included in select batches. This sought-after mezcal has been awarded for its quality. With an interesting gold-amber hue akin to a five-year bourbon, its aroma is marked by brine, phenol, and salt. On the palate, brine, herbs de Provence, smoke, and a sweet-bitter paradox come together with a slick mouthfeel and distinct viscosity.
