SHURflo Accumulator Tank – Smooths Pump Cycling & Kills Water Hammer

This bladder-style accumulator tank buffers the output of any plumbed water pump, letting flow stay smooth and constant instead of surging with every switch cycle. Techs add one (or several, plumbed in parallel) to quiet noisy pump chatter, cut down on water hammer knock in the lines, and reduce cycling that shortens pump and motor life.

DIY-friendly for anyone comfortable with basic water-line plumbing; no electrical work involved.

PRO TIPS

• Check the tank's pre-charge with a standard tire gauge at the air valve before plumbing it in - it should read roughly two-thirds of your system's cut-in pressure. A reading near zero means the internal bladder has already failed, and no amount of correct plumbing will stop water hammer with a dead tank.
• Mount with the air valve oriented up when your install allows it; this keeps the bladder working through its full range evenly instead of favoring one side.
• On high-demand systems with frequent short-cycling, plumbing two tanks in parallel further dampens surges better than one oversized tank alone.
