Coming from a tri-county blend of Napa County (61%), Santa Barbara County (32%), and Sonoma County (7%) fruit and aged 16 months in 20% new oak, the 2023 Chardonnay offers ripe orchard fruits, lanolin, honeyed white flowers, and some spice. It's medium-bodied, clean, and crisp, with solid Chardonnay richness and texture that shows nicely balanced overall character.

Winemaker Notes

Starmont's aim is to retain the focus on the unique Chardonnay fruit expression from some of California’s top cool climate winegrowing regions. Aromas of citrus notes and lemon zest with apricot stone fruit exude from the glass. The florality of white rose and slight herbal character of lemon grass all combine to create an extremely complex nose. On the palate the wine is generous with a creamy mid-palate pointing to the sur lie aging, but the cool climate growing regions are showcased with fresh acidity that leaves a crisp, lingering finish. A beautiful and well-balanced Chardonnay.
