Designed in honor of the beer style born out of the Gold Rush years in California, this is a classic example of “steam beer" or California Common as they are called today. Steam beers were created when German brewers moved to California in the mid 1800's schlepping along with them their lager yeast, only to realize they had no means of refrigeration to lager their beer. Lo' and behold – ale beer with lager yeast was born.
