History
The Macallan 30 Year Single Malt Scotch Whisky is a premium Scotch which is matured at The Macallan distillery for a minimum of 30 years in three exceptional oak cask types. This distillery, established in 1824, is located on a ridge above the River Spey, with the Easter Elchies House serving as its spiritual home for over three centuries. In 1820, Alexander Reid planted barley fields around his home and opened the first licensed distillery on the estate, named Macallan, after a church destroyed by fire in the 15th century. Over the years, the estate has grown to encompass 370 acres, with a focus on high-quality barley production. The meticulous process of malting, mashing, and distilling, using traditional copper-pot stills, ensures that each bottle of The Macallan embodies a unique and rich character, beloved by whisky enthusiasts worldwide.
