Skye didn't see a new distillery for 190 years. Then came Torabhaig — built on the wild southern shore of the island, where the wind carries salt and smoke in equal measure. The Allt Gleann Batch Strength is the distillery's boldest statement yet: a cask-strength release that holds nothing back, drawn from a small parcel of heavily peated casks filled in 2017 and 2018.
The Whisky
Crafted from a blend of Concerto and Laureate malted barley peated to 78+ PPM, this whisky matures in first-fill ex-bourbon barrels and refill whisky casks before being bottled straight from the barrel — no chill filtration, no added color, no water. What you get is the full, uncut expression of Torabhaig's coastal terroir at 61.1% ABV (122.2 proof).
Tasting Notes
- Nose: Bonfire smoke, heathery peat, lemon zest, vanilla shortbread, blossom honey, smoked shellfish, and salty sea air
- Palate: Bold coastal tar, roasted and salted nuts, oily citrus, fennel, metallic pepper spice, light tropical fruit, medicinal undertone, and vanilla biscuit
- Finish: Long and warming — apple, kiwi, orchard fruit, vanilla oak, briny harborside character, and lingering peat smoke
