Taste
W. L. Weller 12 Year Bourbon 1L is a well-crafted wheat bourbon like no other. It is part of a highly coveted series named after William Larue Weller, to commemorate his family's legacy. Aged for a fine 12 years at the award-winning Buffalo Trace Distillery, this splendid blend boasts a wheat mash bill that sets it apart from its peers. The nose offers enticing aromas of rich caramel and vanilla, while the palate reveals complex flavors of grainy notes, cocoa dust, and soft spices. The mid-palate flavor profile showcases layers of wheat, cedar, and nuts, complemented by hints of lanolin, almond, creamed corn, and toasty vanilla, making it a truly remarkable bourbon experience.

History
W. L. Weller 12 Year Bourbon 1L is an award-winning twelve-year-old wheat bourbon produced at the renowned Buffalo Trace distillery, celebrated for its rich tradition. The Weller family, who immigrated from Germany in the 1740s, established their roots in Maryland before moving to Kentucky, where they became prominent farmers and distillers. Daniel Weller, William Larue Weller’s grandfather, purchased a distillery in the late 18th century. After serving in the Mexican-American War, William Larue Weller returned to Kentucky and transformed the family business. In 1849, he pioneered the use of wheat as a secondary grain in bourbon, creating a smoother, sweeter flavor profile that gained immense popularity. This innovation led to the establishment of a distinctive mark—a green thumbprint on invoices and barrels to signify authenticity. The brand's legacy continued with Pappy Van Winkle, who became integral to W.L. Weller & Sons and later Stitzel-Weller Distillery. In 1999, Buffalo Trace acquired the W.L. Weller brand, maintaining the original recipe that has made it a favorite among bourbon enthusiasts. Please drink responsibly, you must be at least 21 years of age to drink alcoholic beverages.
